When reading the list of sources below, it may surprise some readers that the names of so many people who migrated to England during the Middle Ages have been identified. Other aspects to be found the list include migration from Northamptonshire to North America from the 17th century onwards and patterns of migration from elsewhere into Northampton during the Victorian period.

It looks closely into the character of neighbourhoods in the town and the roles of employment, age and gender in influencing patterns of migration.
