A host of important record collections relating to the history of Northamptonshire are housed at Northamptonshire Archives. - A Chest of Old Manuscripts Extracts relating to Northamptonshire from a catalogue of documents offered for auction in 1884, some of which went to the Bodleian library.

- Cartularies of Monasteries in Northamptonshire List of monasteries with the locations of each set of records as at 1838 or earlier.

- Good News from the Kettering Manors An overview of the numerous archives that survive from the three manors of Kettering, with links to extracts from their Court Rolls which have been published online.
- Grafton Regis Includes numerous transcripts of primary sources and a catalogue of 3200 documents from the Grafton Estate.
- Henry Isham Longden Indexes to Pedigrees and associated notes by Francis Howcutt [2023]
- John Bridges at the Bodleian by Murray Johnstone [2018] (page 46) Detailed description of the scope of 52 early-18th-century volumes of manuscript material on which Bridges' history of the county is based. The author estimates that these amount to a total of some 19,000 pages, offering vastly more information than the contents of the published history.
- Records for St Crispin Hospital, Northampton [2025] Outline of the history and types of records created by this establishment, which was formerly known as Northampton County Lunatic Asylum or Berrywood. Examples are given of some of the information that they provide.
- The Archives of Sir Gyles Isham by Simon Fenwick [1987] (page 365) Account of the major task of sorting the papers and other items left in some disorder when Sir Gyles died in 1976, with indications of their scope. The majority were added to the 20,000 documents already deposited in the Isham collection at Northamptonshire Archives.
- The Daventry Collection [2024] Discusses, with examples, the types of documents and geographical scope of over 14,000 items rescued from a local solicitor's office. The collection is kept at Northamptonshire Archives.
- The Duty on Marriages, Births and Burials, 1695-1706 by Christine Vialls (PDF)
- The Historian's Evidence: Family and Estate Records in the Northamptonshire Record Office by P I King [1953] (page 11) Descriptions of the largest private collections that were then housed in the Library at Lamport Hall.
