We regret that, owing to ill health, the workshop about 18th Century Poor Law and Settlement records due to take place on 11 April has been postponed. We now aim to hold it on 3rd October as part of the Autumn programme.
However, we also have good news for 11 April, when there will be an informal discussion session. It will give people who attended earlier workshops an occasion to give feedback such as: What have you learnt? What has it led you to? Share any challenges you have found in getting started and in finding a direction for the research you would like to do. What sort of help do you need next?
We will give the session extra focus by looking at a single year through the lens of trade directory entries. What insights can be drawn from these? What questions do they raise? How can the information they contain be combined with other sources, for richer answers? How can they help tell the story of your community or your ancestors?
Naturally, newcomers will also be very welcome.
