A series of documents (1535-1539) relating to the dissolution of the monastery. Much of the text was originally written in Latin but only a small proportion of that has been translated into English.
For most readers, the lengthy and learned Introduction, which is entirely in English, will be of greatest interest. It discusses the organisation of the Monastery and its enormous wealth; the Abbot's powers over the locality; the Lincolnshire Rebellion of 1536 and how the dissolution itself was conducted.
