Fully indexed transcriptions of the lists of men aged between 18 and 45 who might be called to serve in the militia. The original lists were compiled by parish constables in each town or village, in some places recording the reasons why particular individuals were exempt.
Of the several series of militia lists that exist for Northamptonshire, those for 1777 cover the whole of the county except for the Nassaburgh Hundred (better known as the Soke of Peterborough). The militia lists for 1762 for the Nassaburgh Hundred and an erratum for Northamptonshire Militia Lists 1777 appear in Volume 32: A Northamptonshire Miscellany.
