Library Bulletin No 3

You are invited to visit the Library of the Record Society on Saturday 15th October 2011, between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm, before the Autumn Lecture, to meet the members of the Library Committee.

There are discoveries to be made in the additions to the stock of books relating to the County. Please bring any friends who may be interested in the Record Society, its history and work. If you are attending the afternoon lecture there are various places to eat, including the Delapre Abbey tea rooms.

If you intend to join us on 15 October, it would be helpful if you returned the slip below, or contact the office at the above email address.

On Display

Visitors on the 15 October will have the opportunity to see the 35 volumes (all so far published) of the History of Parliament – House of Commons (HOP-C). This magnificent work, published between 1964 and 2009, covers the periods from 1386 to 1421, 1509 to 1603, and 1660 to 1832. There are extensive biographical entries for the MPs of all the county’s constituencies.

Other choice items will include a selection from the Society’s file of the 19th Century ‘Quarterly Review’.

Volunteers Needed

Dr Wendy Raybould and other members of the committee have continued work on the Patrick King bequest, and the books are now catalogued and absorbed into the general collection.

Much work remains to be done on organising the Library, and anyone who would like to help the committee in its work should contact the secretary, David Harries, by email, telephone number or the address above.

I intend to visit the Library between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm on Saturday 15 October.
