Colin Eaton was born in Northampton where he still lives. He entered the printing industry with Clarke & Sherwell Ltd. in Kingsthorpe Road, Northampton staying with the company until it was taken over by Robert Maxwell, who closed it down a while later. He then joined the 'Community Programme' where he eventually supervised all the projects which were organised by the Leisure and Libraries Department of Northamptonshire County Council. These projects were (a) Indexing of County newspapers; (b) Photographing towns and villages of the whole County; and (c) Oral History. When these projects came to an end, he transferred to NCC’s Library Service based at the Central Library, Northampton, working in various departments but spent a considerable amount of time in the Northamptonshire Local Studies room. He has been retired for 13 years. He has published three books (all with co-author Mia Butler): Learn Yersalf Northamptonshire Dialect, Ladies of Distinction in Northamptonshire, and A Second Northamptonshire Quiz Book.

For many years he has been studying the history of Fawsley as well as the Knightley family from when they arrived in the parish in 1416, until they died out in 1938. The lecture will cover the history of the parish in the landscape as well as maps and other documents. It will show the effect that the Knightleys had on the parish, their dower house and the story of the Hall, from a family home to a famous country house hotel.
