The Bagley/Penns of Chacombe, Ecton and Peterborow

Mr Michael Lee

15th October 2005

St Andrew's Hospital, Billing Road, Northampton

Michale Lee has spent all his life in Northamptonshire and was an electrical contractor by profession for over 25 years. During this time he has become an authority on ancient clocks and bells - most of them in our County.

He is a campanologist and horologist who has devoted a great deal of time to the study of bells and clock makers in Ecton and Stamford. He is a steeplekeeper at Fotheringhay Church; restoring bells during 1980s, as well as in other parts of the country. His work has its risks, traversing rotten floors and timbers which indicates his passion. Members will be interested to know that Mr Bagley's close friend and colleague was Thomas Franklin, the Ecton blacksmith and uncle to Benjamin Franklin, the American statesman.
